REALTORS Highlight Bright Spots In Local Housing Market
Pack House with Community-Centered Event
Over 300 concerned homeowners, potential homeowners and real estate professionals braved the hailing rain and wind on Wednesday, June 18th to attend RAGFL’s The State of Today’s Real Estate – a Housing Symposium. The free event, sponsored by RAGFL and the Broward Housing Partnership (BHP) host took place from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale.
The BHP, led by Chairman and CEO Cyril S. Spiro and Director James Carras, kicked off the event by unveiling details on the BHP’s recently-issued Municipal Scorecard on Affordable Housing; a ‘report card’ which grades 15 participating Broward municipalities on their ability to address regional affordable housing issues. The full report is available on the BHP's Website.
RAGFL CEO Richard W. Barkett then took center stage and presented, for the first-time ever, city-level MLS statistics for over 12 Broward County cities. This invaluable market data helped the RAGFL members and the public identify answers to questions such as:
Where are homes selling?
What cities have the least - and most - available inventory?
Which are the most affordable cities?

Clerk of Courts Howard C. Forman rounded off the event by presenting an overview of the South Florida foreclosure market including the number of current foreclosures and how many are expected on the horizon. Forman offered homeowners key steps they can take to avoid foreclosure. Click here to view the brochure Homeowners Rights in Foreclosure Proceedings.
