Committee Descriptions

Candidate Screening

Interviews candidates for election to public offices in Broward County. Develops an understanding of their positions on real estate issues and recommends candidates to the RAGFL Board of Directors and then to the general membership.

Commitment: As needed during elections.

Government Affairs

Provides general oversight of all legislative and political involvement at local, state and national levels. The committee also lobbies for issues regarding private property rights.

Commitment: As needed.

Grievance

Investigates complaints from the public and real estate industry professionals involving alleged violations of the REALTOR® Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice. Serving as the Association’s grand jury, committee members determine the probable cause and conduct preliminary investigations. Appointments to the Grievance Committee are for a three-year period. Members must attend an annual NAR-mandated training course.

Commitment: Once a month.

International Real Estate Council

Promotes and coordinates activities to help REALTORS® expand their market to include culturally-diverse clients and international business opportunities.

Commitment: Once a month.

MLS Policy

Provides oversight of Multiple Listing Service (MLS) policy and monitors the performance standards of the MLS. Reviews and recommends changes in technology and services to meet current and future needs.

Commitment: Once a month.

Professional Development

Reviews and recommends educational needs and requirements for the membership. Ensures seminars, courses and workshops focus on current and timely market issues to elevate members’ skill and knowledge base.

Commitment: As needed.

Professional Standards

Committee members serve on ethics and arbitration hearing panels, adjudicate alleged violations of the Code of Ethics and determine the entitlement of arbitration awards. To qualify to serve on the committee, members must have had three consecutive years of service on the Grievance Committee and must attend an annual NAR-mandated training course.

RPAC

Organizes fundraising activities for the REALTOR® Political Action Committee (RPAC) and strives to meet annual local, state and national goals.

Commitment: As needed.

Realtor®/Lawyer

Liaisons between the Association and the Broward County Bar Association. Consists of nine REALTORS® and nine attorneys who review and devise all standard forms and contracts for normal use within the real estate industry.

Commitment: Once a month.
